Ribbon Cutting Held for Newly Renovated George W. Turner Building in the Lewisburg Housing Authority

 



The Lewisburg Housing Authority held a ribbon cutting ceremony on 6/29/22 to celebrate the newly renovated George W. Turner Building that has long been the community center of the public housing complex. Local officials and community supporters were on hand to see the newly remodeled event center with kitchen and the board and conference room. Following the Ribbon Cutting, Lewisburg Housing Authority Director Ronald Robinson and former Lewisburg Police Chief Doug Alexander were presented with the naming of the Board & Conference Room in their honor.

Governor Lee, Commissioner Rolfe Announce Rockford Spring Company to Establish Operations in Lewisburg

 


Custom spring and wire manufacturer will invest $10 million to locate new manufacturing operations in Marshall County

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee, Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bob Rolfe and Rockford Spring Company officials announced today the company will establish new manufacturing operations in Lewisburg. 

Rockford Spring will invest $10.3 million and create 62 new jobs in Marshall County as the company locates in an existing facility at 1100 Garrett Parkway. 

By establishing a presence in Tennessee, the Illinois-based company will utilize the Lewisburg facility to serve its existing markets while also expanding its customer base in the southeastern U.S.

Founded in 1952, Rockford Spring Company manufactures custom precision springs and wire forms for the automotive, agriculture, firearms, hydraulics and outdoor power equipment, as well as many other industries. The Lewisburg facility will increase Rockford Spring’s employment to roughly 150 people across its two U.S. operations in Illinois and Tennessee. 

In the last five years, TNECD has supported more than 60 economic development projects in the Southern Middle Tennessee region, resulting in roughly 8,200 job commitments and $5.2 billion in capital investment.

Teledyne Cuts Ribbon on Playground at Rock Creek Park in Lewisburg, TN

 


Thanks to an idea from young Jackson Davis, Teledyne worked with a committee of city officials and volunteers to donate funds for a wonderful playground at Rock Creek Park (right in front of the Marshall County Memorial Library).

Public Input Sought on National Electronic Vehicle Infrastructure Plan

 


The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) in conjunction with The Tennessee Department of Environment & Conservation (TDEC) will host an in-person discussion, to gather public input on the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Deployment plan.

 

The meeting will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. CT at the following location:

The Departments welcome feedback from the public and relevant stakeholders on the NEVI Formula Program planning process and have developed a website and on-line survey at www.tn.gov/evplan. The meeting is being held to provide the public an opportunity to provide comments regarding the Tennessee Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (TEVI) Deployment Plan. WESTHILLS 6TH GRADERS EARN "JOBS" WITH LOCAL EMPLOYERS

 


Westhills Elementary hosted 6th Grade Interview & Resume` Contest with help from HR Departments of ICP (Carrier), Marelli and Teledyne. Each student in the 6th grade provided resume`s and condcuted interviews for a chance to earn "jobs" with each of the employers. Those ready to be hired today and start work with participating employers are Annie Chamberlin, Teyanna Wilson, Kaycee Barnes, Matthew Brindle and Madison Mason.

Women in Business Luncheon 2022 in Lewisburg, TN - Empowered Women Improve the Bottom Line

 


JECDB Director Emily Darnell pulled together a crew of female leaders in Lewisburg and Marshall County to bring a dream to life in the Women in Business Luncheon held at the Lewisburg Recreation Center on May 13. 

Along with Jennifer Pearson, Lee Bussart, Cary Whitesell, Terri Orr, Louisa Davis, Amanda Humphrey and Melissa Garrett, Darnell brought over 200 women of all ages and from all sectors of the Marshall County economic ecosystem together to hear from native Angie Grissom, owner and Chief Relationship Officer for Rainmaker Companies

Grissom spoke on the theme of the Luncheon "Empowered Women Improve the Bottom Line." Telling her story from Lewisburg to New York and the World, Grissom gave a remarkable presentation that touched the hearts and minds of everyone in the room. 

County Mayor Mike Keny served as emcee and presented three Awards to three deserving recipients: Lacy Hooten - Volunteer of the Year; Jessica Tietgens of Weathered Farmhouse - Business Women of the Year and Cecilia Spivey - Lifetime Achievement. 

The event was so amazing that the first event will become an annual event sure to empower women of Marshall County for years to come.

EDGE Club Learns Law and YP in Lewisburg TN | The MCHS Economic Development Growth Engine Club (EDGE) visited Davis Law Firm in downtown Lewisburg, TN on April 7 to learn about Law, Being an Attorney, Running Your Own Business/Practice and What is Required to Become an Attorney. Bird in a Bush Receives TSBDC Rising Star Award

 


The Tennessee Small Business Development Center of MTSU in Murfreesboro came to the Marshall County Joint Economic & Community Development Board meeting held at the Columbia State Community College Campus on March 8, 2022 to present their Rising Star Award to local small business - Bird in a Bush, owned and operated by Tammy Whaley. Bird in a Bush is a clothing and accessories store located in the downtown square of Lewisburg, TN and took full advantage of the resources offered by the TSBDC at MTSU before, during and after the pandemic that forced many small businesses to pivot and adapt. Thanks to the partnership, Bird in a Bush did that and more and now has a nice online presence https://birdinabush.com/ & @birdinabushdesigns on FB & IG.

Arbor Day Event for Eric Barlow Memorial Park in Lewisburg, TN


Waste Management in Partnership with the City of Lewisburg and the Tree City Committee has created a Memorial Park on a strip of land along Highway 373 (Mooresville Hwy) leading into Lewisburg, TN from Exit 32 of I-65. The Park includes several trees planted along the roadway and will include park benches and a nature trail around the property that will be maintained by Waste Management. The park is in honor of Eric Barlow who tragically lost his life in an accident near the site. Memorial benches and other landscaping are planned for the park in the next few weeks.

Old Hickory Smokehouse Creates Special Shift to Hire Students

 Old Hickory Smokehouse needed 40 employees to pack its products. They came to Spot Lowe Technology Center and the Marshall County School System and proposed a special 4-hour, afterschool shift that they would offer to students ages 16-18 at $15/HR. 86 students applied and OHS held a hiring event orientation on Feb. 10, 2022 at their facility to give the students a chance to earn money, learn the value of work and begin their paths to their next careers.
