Pathways Marshall Program Markets Careers to Students

Jeffrey Lykins and Emily Weaver of Calsonic Kansei speak with CHES 3rd graders about careers at CKNA with help from their robot, Cal Sonic.
This year, the Marshall County School System and local industries have partnered to engage students on the career opportunities available to them in Marshall County.
Each year, Marshall County students graduate from one of the county's three high schools without a true understanding of the careers and wealth creating potential that exists in Marshall County from the manufacturing sector to health care, finance, technical and professional services.
From the Pathways TN program and the Pathways South Central TN Committee, Pathways Marshall began this school year by asking each school in the county to open their doors and to make time for industries to come and speak to students about their companies and the career opportunities that they offer.
Michael White of Moon Products speaks with 6th graders at Westhills Elementary about how pencils are made and the careers at Moon Products that make that company succeed in Marshall County.

The Marshall County Memorial Library added to this program by receiving a grant to offer Career Exploration and Education to Middle School students and joined the Pathways Marshall team by bringing several business owners and career professionals to Lewisburg Middle School to speak to students on starting your own business to become a career professional in Marshall County.
The goal is to ensure that every student in the county is aware of all the career opportunities available right here in Marshall County so that they can make better informed decisions about the career paths they will take in life. By doing this, the hope is that more young people will consider a career here in Marshall County to assist in the workforce shortage facing local industries and to improve the growth, health and well-being of the county for the future.
Rep. Rick Tillis of Tillis Jewelry speaks to Lewisburg Middle School students about starting your own business here in Marshall County.

The Pathways Marshall program will continue and just about every school in Marshall County for the remainder of the school year and plans are to extend MFG Day into a Career Night later in the school year. The plan, also, is to keep this program going each year to develop a pipeline of young talent feeding into the workforce of Marshall County.
