Lewisburg City Manager, Randall Dunn, announced the appointment of the City's new Chief of Police. David L. Henley, a seasoned public servant, United States Department of Justice police instructor, and veteran of Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, will lead the City's team of police officers and personnel. David was sworn into office on Tuesday, March 22nd. Chief Henley has served as interim Chief since July 21st, 2015 due to an automobile accident involving former Police Chief Chuck Forbis. "David has done an excellent job overseeing the department and keeping our city safe while serving as interim and we felt he was not only the most qualified candidate but the right candidate, City Manager Dunn said." "He is a dynamic asset to the City, and brings with him a vast amount of experience, knowledge, and service in the field and we look forward to working with him as Chief." Henley's career in law enforcement began with the United State Army where he served as a Cavalry Scout (non-commissioned officer) from 1990 until 1994. He joined the Davidson County Sheriff's Office in 1994 where he served as a Deputy Sherriff until 1996 then transferred to Williamson County as Deputy Sherriff, Supervisor, and Detective until 2008. Henley joined the Lewisburg Police Department in 2009 as a Detective Sergeant and Supervisor in the criminal investigation division. "I have dedicated my adult life to the protection and service of others, being a proactive law enforcement professional with over twenty years of experience and over 4,000 hours of specialized training, Chief Henley said." " As we all know our society is changing and law enforcement must change with it, while still completing the mission of providing a safe community for its citizens." "As interim Chief it gave me the opportunity to put into place some policies and procedures to make the department more inclusive, professional and more accessible to our community." “My passion for and commitment to the cause of serving and protecting our communities has only allowed me to accept this position with much humility, honor and respect. It is a privilege to serve as the new Police Chief for the City of Lewisburg,” said Henley. Henley attended both Liberty University and Nashville State Technical Institute and is member of the FOP. The City of Lewisburg continues to hold the safety and welfare of its residents and visitors alike in high regard. With that, it gives us great pleasure to announce this new leadership in our City’s Police Department.

Once A Tiger, Always A Tiger

MCHS Tiger and Tigerette Coaches and Legends were honored at the Lewisburg Recreation Center on March 5 during an event that celebrated the men and women who started, created and carry on the great Tiger Tradition.
Former Tiger Stars Jason Maxwell, Dwight Robinson, Colby Biggers and Eric Johnson worked with Director of Schools Jackie Abernathy to bring together a host of former Tigers and Tigerettes and all the coaches and mentors who shaped generations of people in Lewisburg during the 70s, 80s and 90s. The event featured a video of Tiger and Tigerette memories and was followed by tributes to coaches, including Fred Shelton, Bob Edens, Joe George, Steve Reese, Mike "Monk" Reese, Don Steely, Louis Conner, Wayne Aldridge, Reese Hambrick, Gary Wells, Roy Dukes, Ray Stacey, Mike Bishop, Ray Steely and David Steely.
The event served as a kickoff event for the formation of the Big Blue Alumni. The Big Blue Alumni is calling all Tigers and Tigerettes - wherever you may be today - to join in an effort to give back to the community and schools that helped to form the people you have become. The goal is to provide the same tradition for the young people who are or will be future Tigers and Tigerettes.
