Columbia State Community College Career Day with Local Students

Students from all three high schools in Marshall County, MCHS, Forrest and Cornersville, filled the halls and classrooms of the Columbia State Community College Lewisburg campus on Wednesday, March 11 to hear and learn about careers and the paths to achieve them.
The day began with a Workforce Panel where students heard from John Hiers, HR Manager of Meiwa Industry North America, Connie Lentz, HR Generalist for Marshall Medical Center and Luke Buckley, Senior VP of First Commerce Bank. The three panelists outlined their careers, the types of employees their companies are seeking and the educational levels to succeed in their fields and companies.
For the rest of the day, the students broke into groups and toured classrooms where instructors gave presentations on computing, agriculture, physical therapy, advanced integrated industrial technology, biology and STEM.
This is the 14th year Columbia State has held its Career Day for high school students in Marshall County and it is but one way Marshall County is working to create the workforce of tomorrow, today.
