A value stream is the series of activities that take a product from the supplier to the customer (for a physical product), or from the customer request to filling that need (for a service or informational product).  It includes all the value-adding processes that the company performs in the Lean office or on the shop floor.
The value of a value stream map is that it helps identify waste by starting at the customer and looking upstream and applying the basic Lean principles in order to make the business more efficient.
Those who take this class will be able to lead a Value Stream Mapping activity at your business which will include:
1) creating a current value stream map
2) creating a future value stream map
3) identifying Kaizen Bursts (improvements).

This class will be held on April 17 from 8:00a-1:00p in Hickman 122 on the Columbia campus.  Fee:  $139.
