Value Stream Mapping Class at CSCC

A value stream is the series of activities that take a product from the supplier to the customer (for a physical product), or from the customer request to filling that need (for a service or informational product).  It includes all the value-adding processes that the company performs in the Lean office or on the shop floor.
The value of a value stream map is that it helps identify waste by starting at the customer and looking upstream and applying the basic Lean principles in order to make the business more efficient.
Those who take this class will be able to lead a Value Stream Mapping activity at your business which will include:
1) creating a current value stream map
2) creating a future value stream map
3) identifying Kaizen Bursts (improvements).

This class will be held on April 17 from 8:00a-1:00p in Hickman 122 on the Columbia campus.  Fee:  $139.

3D Printing and Additive Manufacturing in Middle TN

Program
Academic applications for 3D Printing will be presented by teacher Melinda Hamby and student, Liam Page, from Central Magnet school in Murfreesboro (15 minutes).
The keynote speaker will be Tracy Beard, General Manager of 3DProParts located in Lawrenceburg, TN.  3DProParts is a subsidary of 3D Systems, a public company.  The 3DProParts divisions specializes in printing rapid prototypes and production parts in a variety of materials including plastic and metals.  Tracy will present the capabilities of his facility and share stories of the types of items currently being printed (45 minutes).

New ISO/TS 16949 classes at Columbia State



Below are descriptions of 2 NEW ISO/TS 16949 classes we are offering at Columbia State.  Advantages of these classes are:
1)      The cost when you compare them to other auditor classes.
2)      The convenience.  These are hybrid classes in which most of the time the class is being taken online, with the final day in a classroom.
3)      The instructor.  The instructor is a practicing ISO/TS 16949 Qualified Internal Auditor per the IATF.

ISO/TS 16949 Internal Auditor Training
Improve Your Skills and Knowledge to Participate in Internal Audits!

This hybrid course involves blended learning, a combination of online and onsite training.  Of the 3 days, the first two can be accomplished online at your own schedule between April 1 and May 9.  The third day of training will be held at the Columbia State Columbia campus on Thursday, May 9.
All attendees must use their own copies of ISO/TS 16949 manuals. The intended outcome of this training is that all students will:
·         experience an improvement in skill and knowledge as an internal auditor
·         have an improvement in knowledge of the ISO/TS 16949 requirements
·         be able to complete an actual ISO/TS 16949 audit at your workplace
·         learn more about how your company operates
·         learn how to use the ISO/TS internal audits as a proactive tool to drive continual improvement
This class is scheduled to begin on Monday, April 1. The fee for the class is $800.

This hybrid course involves blended learning, a combination of online and onsite training.  Of the 4 days of training, the first 3 can be accomplished online at your own schedule between April 1 and May 9.  The fourth day of training will be held at the Columbia State Columbia campus on May 9.
All attendees must use their own copies of ISO/TS 16949 manuals. The intended outcome of this training is that all students will:

·         have an improvement in knowledge of the ISO/TS 16949 requirements

SMTEC Offers Automotive Accelerator Program in Spring Hill



Automotive Accelerator in Spring Hill 
The Southern Middle Tennessee Entrepreneur Center (SMTEC) is offering the "autoXLR8R," a new automotive accelerator program based in Spring Hill, Tenn. The mentor-driven bootcamp will offer several companies the opportunity to connect with automotive manufacturing and technology commercialization experts, as well as investors, for an immersion-style experience designed to help propel new innovations to market.

The program will include intense training in commercialization and business fundamentals with hand-selected advisors, exposure to industry investors throughout the program, and demo days to make pitch presentations. Companies will be provided office space and $20,000 in exchange for six to ten percent equity, and promising applicants will be eligible for a $100,000 convertible note at a minimum. 

The 13-week program is open to any start-up business or entrepreneur with a new technology applicable to the automotive industry and runs May 13 - August 8. Applications will be accepted now through April 5. Please visit autoXLR8R.com for more information and to apply.
